GUNTERSVILLE CRAPPIE JAN 2008

Water Temperature: 48
Water Clarity: 2-3 feet

A client and I tried to get out yesterday morning for a little crappie fishing, but it was just too dang cold. We battled the wind and cold temperatures for 2 hours until we both looked at each other and agreed it was a lost cause. Num fingers, ice forming in the rod eyes, and wind make it impossible to feel those light biting crappie. I don’t know how, but we did manage to land 3 crappies before we decided to try it another time. Today was much better conditions, it actually felt like a heat wave compared to the artic blast yesterday. In 5 hours landed 26 crappies with the biggest around 2.5 lbs. Fish were caught in 15-24ft of water on Yum Wooly Beavertails and other jigs.
