This is a couple of reports for Sunday and Monday.
Sunday I got to fish with two great young men both brothers 12 and 14(Will and Eric) from up north and thier parents in tow on a second boat. We did some casting stuff with Eric for a bit and off to fishing. It was your typical March day with winds but still a great way to enjoy the holiday. I got to see them boat several nice fish and also gave some leasons on a couple of things they wanted to learn. Biggest "non-fishing" highlight of the day was we saw a small duck seem to be hung up in the weeds and trolled over to see what was wrong with it. Upon getting the boat close saw a huge ball of fishing line wrapped around its upper part of the wings and around its neck. Well, after getting bit a couple of times by the duck I was able to get the line off it and free it from the weeds it had tied its self up in and he flew of to continue life with some family members. Kinda cool.
Monday had a Father/Son trip (thanks Mark) with a couple of guys here from NC. After getting the son working a baitcaster we started on the mid lake area dodging winds. Had alot of bites but just a couple of hook ups and boated fish. It was a long time between bites and most I think were smaller fish. In the afternoon Johnny(son) boated a great bedding fish on a Jackall Giron and topped his personal best bass. They were great sports to keep at it dispite the nasty cold and winds today and it payed off for them. The other fish were all boated on Lake Fork Plastics in less than 2 feet of water. We fished mainly protected waters today (if they call that protected). Biggest key is finding good green grass with drops near and other types of structure mixed in the grass. The weather this week looks to be great and temps getting better everyday. It should be all the fish need to lock on the beds by the weekend I hope. We did see several that were already up and on beds today but alot of empty beds ready for the females and males roaming.
I will be back at it in the AM with another trip but I had a client cancel due to work for Thursday if anyone wants a last min trip. ALso days still left in April. See you on the water.
God Bless
