LAKE WEISS IS AT .59 FEET BELOW FULL POOL STAINED AND 76 DEGREES BY MARK COLLINS

Bass fishing is great and some fish are starting to be caught shallow on rocky banks and shallow on main lake and secondary points. Some fish are also starting to be caught in the backs of the bays following the shad as they move to the cooler water. Shallow running crank baits Like the new Gizz 3 and the Bandit 100 series are catching fish.

Striper fishing is poor and they have moved back to the creeks and rivers looking for cooler water and following the shad migration. The Cave Hole in Little River is producing a few fish early and late on live Shad down lined and free lined. Little Spring Creek is also producing a few fish during the week when there is very little boat traffic. The lower Chattooga River above and below the Gaylesville bridge is also producing some fish on live shad down lined and free lined.

Crappie fishing is good and the fish have started moving up on the old river channel ledges 12 to 18 feet of water on the drop offs. The Coosa river channel from Cedar Bluff to Leesburg is the best area to target. Spider rigging with minnows and Jiffy Jigs is catching the best numbers of fish. Shooting docks with at least 6 feet of water under them with a 1/24th ounce Jiffy Jig is also producing some good numbers of fish.
