Bass fishing remains about the same as a burst of hot days hit the area again this past week. A small chance of rain is in the forecast, but don't even expect this to change anything. The water is still warm and has been climbing into the low to mid 80's by the afternoon hours. Ledges and deep rocky points with light jigs and spot stickers is going to be your "bread and butter" baits; with maybe a Carolina rig thrown in around those submerged stumps south of the Highway 72 Bridge. A very light top water bite has occurred in the early morning hours in select areas of the lake, but those spots are very tight lipped. It has been taking ten pounds or less for most of the tournaments to win and a lot of small spotted bass are being caught according to most anglers. It should be a little cooler this weekend and hopefully a few good bass will be caught on some crank baits. Anglers have been throwing them with scattered results, but expect this action to pick up as fall approaches.
