WEST POINT LAKE IS FULL, CLEAR & 81 DEGREES BY CHRIS BRACKETT

Bass fishing this week has been fair. Schooling spotted bass are making the top water bite very fun lakeside. Up lake fishing are being caught around brush piles and blow downs. Fish are moving up shallow in the backs of the deeper creeks and can be caught on 3/8 ounce spinnerbait in any shad color. Also a Zoom crayfish Texas rigged or a 1/8 ounce shakey head rigged with a finesse worm has been catching fish on those tougher days. Down lake fish are in the same area’s but in the 8 to 12 foot depth range.

Hybrid and striper fishing has been good. Fishing with shad is still working around the tree’s and drop offs. Down lined in 20 to 30 feet of water and make sure you use a good quality Fluorocarbon leader. Use a 1 ounce egg weights with a 60lb swivel in the black color. Good areas have been Wedhakee Creek and Rainbow Creek and of course down to the dam around the humps. Top water fishing is still great and fish are schooling early and late everyday day.

Crappie fishing is fair. Fishing has not changed much from last week .Fish live minnows tipped on Jiffy jigs around deep brush piles and deep roadbeds to catch your limit right now. Night fishing has also picked up around the bridges and rock wall’s lake wide. Trolling around the trees has also been working but be prepared to get hung up a lot and keep tying up new jigs.
