DOUG NICHLES GUIDE SERVICE - Wedowee
SEPTEMBER 2
WATER TEMP 81
CLARITY 2 FT
Lake Wedowee, Not a well know bass lake compared to other Alabama heavy hitters, but did you know that six bass out of the top ten heavy weights ever taken on rod and reel in the state of Alabama came from these waters. Not bad for a lake only a few people talk about when bass fishing comes up in a conversation.
In saying that, I would like to take this opportunity to share some information about how and when to plan a timely trip here. October is definitely the time when, with water temperature falling, the shad will move shallow and into the creeks. The how part is a little more of a challenge as is always the case with multiple tactics working. A spinner bait is my number one choice followed by a medium running crank bait.
My experience in the past few years at Wedowee, fishing these tactics, have been very successful and produced catches of 35 plus bass with an occasional bass over 7 lbs.,my personal best here was 9.5 lbs largemouth and 6.25 spotted bass. I will take that any old fishing day and smile.
Please think about making a memory and allow me to guide you, a family member or a friend on this great lake. Now booking for the month of October.
Helpful Hints: New experiences are always invaluable so plan ahead.
