WEST POINT LAKE IS DOWN 5.7 FEET, CLEAR & 54 DEGREES BY CHRIS BRACKETT, http://www.westpointstripers.com/" href="http://www.westpointstripers.com/">http://www.westpointstripers.com/" color="black">http://www.westpointstripers.com/" style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none">WWW.WESTPOINTSTRIPERS.COM

Bass fishing is great. The Rat L Trap bite was strong along with a Chatter Bait bite. Use a ½ ounce Strike King Red Eye Shad in the bleeding shad pattern and a ½ ounce Chatter bait in the white color. Fish the pockets loaded with shad. The best areas are the pockets up the river and the pockets up Yellow Jacket Creek. If this bite is reaction bite is slow down with a Carolina rig with a Net bait T-Mac in the green pumpkin color. Be sure to see the fish and bait on the Lowrance before starting any fishing. This is a very important factor that helped us catch a lot of fish.

Hybrid and striper fishing is fair. We are about to see the stripers and hybrids start the run upriver. This happens when the water temp hits 56 to 60 degrees. Fish are still being caught by trolling white sassy shads and deep running crank baits. Fish are still being caught lake wide so there is not one place better than another. Look for bait and fish on your graph and then start fishing from there. Some fish have been report being caught up the river but its no were near hot. Also I am still booking trips for the 2009 Striper Run. Please call for any questions about dates that are still open.

Crappie fishing is great and a lot of small fish in being caught on minnows. Depths are from 7 to 10 feet on the north end of the lake but that will change daily with the weather. Jiffy Jigs is the hot lure. Try trolling or fish under a bobber as both are working great equally. Good colors are Black/Chart, Green/Black, and Red/White. Don't forget to tip your jig with a live minnow for great results.
