Guntersville, August 2002

We have all heard the report of the 14lb largemouth that was taken last week on Guntersville on a crankbait and that seems to be constistent with other report that we are hearing. Crankbaits in water 8 to 10 feet deep are catching some really good fish right now. Shad patterns are the best colors right now since the fish have started to key in on shad. Lucky Craft's US Shad is and excellent choice right now in American Shad and Chartruese Shad. Look to the lower end of the lake for some good quality fish. The grass be fished with Watermelon-colored plastics for some good fish. Another place to go right now are docks that have some timber on them. Try a jig or spinnerbait to pull these fish off. Natural colors seem to be key on Guntersville right now, so look for shad-colored crankbaits for the best results.
