LOGAN MARTIN, OCTOBER 2002

The water has begun its' yearly decent and is moving some fish into feeding. The fish for the past two weeks have been hanging on rock point in creeks and on the river, but now have moved off those points into slightly deeper water near these points. The new Deep Diving Pointer 78 is an excellent choice for these fish that are still are a hard jerkbait bite. Ghost Minnow downriver and Chartruese Shad from midriver up are good choices. If the fish are stubborn on the jerkbait, throw a Watermelonseed worm of some sort to these fish and see if that doesn't get them. Clear Creek is still proving to be the hot spot on the lower end of the lake. Any drops from 3 to 4 feet into 10 or more are sure to hold shad which will have fish underneath. Norman Deep Little N's are great choices in these situations. A spinnerbait slow-rolled through these schools is also a good choice. Davis' X-Wire in Peacock is the best color in a spinnerbait with tandem blades. The LV-500 from Lucky Craft may be the best lipless bait we have seen in a while and it is finding some good 2-3lb fish on some flats. The topwater bite is still on a buzzbait near seawalls in white with gold blades and this is a good way to limit out with all the cloud cover we have had.
