Lay Lake, October 2002

The water is on it's way down now at lake and will bottom out sometime this weekend. This will of course drive the fish towards deeper water. Look for some good spots to come this week with all the water that they are pulling through the dam. Crankbaits such as FISHCO's Chartuese Shad MR and Grey Ghost MR are great choices on Lay. A spinnerbait is good all over the river in Chartruese. 3/8oz or smaller is the best choice for size with the shad being small right now. The Pointer 78 in American Shad or Table Rock Shad is a great bait to throw to schools of shad near points and in pockets off the river. Some good fish were caught on topwater this week with a Sammy 85 all throughout the day. Look to Beeswax, Cedar and Paint Creeks for the best numbers of fish.
