LOGAN MARTIN JULY 2005

Water Temperature: 86
Water Clarity: 1 foot

I had Jeff Colburn join me today at logan Martin . Jeff had fished with me back in the late fall, early winter and wanted to get out for some summer action. We started shallow with jeff fishing topwater and Me a fish head spin. Jeff had several blow up's with a sammy and connected on all three boating two and having one pull off which appeared to be the better fish . As the topwater slowed , the fish head spin picked up on the end of a point where a creek channell was close by. We found fish suspended under a school of shad in 8' foot of water and caught numbers of small to 1 3/4 pound fish . We later moved to a hump with deep water near by and caught better fish at this location. The fish must have been suspended in deeper water and would swim up to feed on schools of shad on the drop. We would make 25 or so cast without a bite and then get 4 to 5 fish in consecutive cast . These fish came on 1/8 and 3/16 oz spotsticker jigheads rigged with SS Magic and Red bug hand poured worms . I fished a Bill Norman deep diver for one and tried the fish head spin with no takers at this location also. Jeff caught some good fish as he usually does but a jighead/worm is not new to him for he has fished this technique over twenty years . We did not notice any current and a very slight breeze on occasion . The photo is Jeff and Myself with some of the fish we caught . Spotsticker Products can be found at Marks Outdoors. Until next time Good Fishing and God Bless !
